One Idea
from 1978.
A brand
auf Travel.
In 1978, Zino Davidoff launched his own brand in collaboration with Dr Ernst Schneider. In the midst of the US embargo on Cuba, the first Zino cigars were produced in Honduras – for a US market that no longer had access to Cuban tobacco. The idea was to deliver uncompromising quality outside the traditional supply chain, using the finest Central American tobaccos.
Over the following decades, the brand made its way through several tobacco-growing regions – the Dominican Republic, Honduras and Nicaragua. Each line, each harvest, is a chapter in its own right, linked by Davidoff’s signature style: hand-rolled, full of character, and unhurried.
In 2021, the brand was relaunched with a Nicaraguan blend and the “Live Life from A-Z” campaign – an invitation to discover life in all its richness. In 2026, we’ve come full circle: with the new Honduras range, Zino is returning to where it all began in 1978.

By A to Zino.
Four stages, one idea – the brand’s evolution from a lifestyle statement to a ‘two worlds’ family.
Establishment in Honduras
Dr Ernst Schneider and Zino Davidoff launch the Zino brand. In the midst of the US embargo on Cuba, the first Zino cigars are produced in Honduras – for a US market with no access to Cuban tobacco.
Zino Platinum
Global launch of the premium Zino Platinum range, featuring the Crown and Scepter series – a new generation of the brand.
Relaunch with Nicaragua
The brand is being completely revamped – with a Nicaraguan blend and the ‘Live Life from A-Z’ campaign. Spicy, volcanic, full of character.
Return to Honduras
With its new Honduras range, Zino returns to where it all began in 1978. Tobacco from Jamastrán and Copán, finished with an Ecuadorian binder.
From six parts
It’ll be a real treat.
A hand-rolled cigar consists of three types of tobacco and three visible elements. Scroll through the components – the camera will follow.
123456The foot.
The open end you light. An even burn along the full length is the hallmark of a hand-rolled cigar.
The filler.
The heart of the cigar. A carefully composed long-filler blend from several growing regions – its composition shapes the character of each line.
The binder.
The binder holds the filler together and guides the burn. The structuring hand of the blend – it shapes the aromatic architecture from start to finish.
The wrapper.
The outermost, most visible tobacco layer. For both Zino lines it comes from Ecuador – carefully fermented, silky in texture, it shapes the first visual and gustatory impression.
The band.
Identity marker. It carries line, origin and format. Zino Nicaragua in gold, Zino Honduras in red – the two worlds of Zino recognisable at a glance.
The cap.
The closed end where the cigar is cut before smoking. Honduras Freshpacks are pre-cut at the factory – for spontaneous enjoyment without a cutter.
