The Founding

A brand
auf Travel.

In 1978, Zino Davidoff launched his own brand in collaboration with Dr Ernst Schneider. In the midst of the US embargo on Cuba, the first Zino cigars were produced in Honduras – for a US market that no longer had access to Cuban tobacco. The idea was to deliver uncompromising quality outside the traditional supply chain, using the finest Central American tobaccos.

Over the following decades, the brand made its way through several tobacco-growing regions – the Dominican Republic, Honduras and Nicaragua. Each line, each harvest, is a chapter in its own right, linked by Davidoff’s signature style: hand-rolled, full of character, and unhurried.

In 2021, the brand was relaunched with a Nicaraguan blend and the “Live Life from A-Z” campaign – an invitation to discover life in all its richness. In 2026, we’ve come full circle: with the new Honduras range, Zino is returning to where it all began in 1978.
